Framed wall art is one of our favorite subjects to talk about. Does this sound familiar?
You buy that special piece...maybe it's a picture, a cross, a sconce, or perhaps a mirror. You have a hunch it's going to look just right in that space on your wall that you've had such a hard time filling.
You get it home...you put it on the wall...and it is PERFECT!!!

That doesn't happen all the time with wall decor. There are some horror stories out there. But, when it does happen, it's magic...plain and simple.
Jen and I were selling our old house and there was this empty space above the mantle. What would be just right there? Wrought iron? Something black and white? Some professional wall art?
We had the color scheme...our favorite browns, a dark red, a bit of of gold...we knew the size...then we saw it at The Wall Art Store.
The frame was the perfect thickness...the colors were just right and the size looked like it would fit pefectly above the mantle. Sometimes you just have to go for it.
Arranging your framed wall art can certainly be a challenge. Here are some tried and true tips to help you.
Our good friend Ann Myrick has a great video for you on arranging your framed art on your living room walls.
Ok, so you know your design style, but do you know what kinds of art are indicative of your design style?
Not sure, huh?
We'll give you a hand. Our good friends at The Wall Art Store would like to help. Click here for their guide to framed wall art style. They don't cover everything so think about this for styles like country and southwestern.
Country decorating comes back to Americana, at its finest. Down home family values and images of the family farm and a simpler life, back in a simpler time. Southwest decor is full of color, like turquoise blue, red, yellow, and orange. Images of kokopellis, Native Americans, and desert landscapes are most indicative of this design style.
While you're decorating your walls, don't ignore your windows, too. Our pals at Window Treatments Made Easy also have some great ideas for how to decorate all the windows in your living room. Don't forget that we have our own thoughts on window treatments. Check out our ideas on curtains and drapes.
