Divide and Conquer With Room to Spare by: Todd and Jen
Hi Sherise!
Have we got some living room design ideas for you. BTW, yours is our first question from Canada. Welcome!
Before we get into your specific living room concerns, we have a couple of suggestions for your dining room. The peanut butter walls, with the light oak table and ivory seat cushions are probably leaving this room a little washed out. A centerpiece with vibrant oranges, red and bronzes would be a great addition. Also consider wrapping some bronze or red fabric swags around the tops of youfr dining room chairs. That'll punch up that color.
Now on to the living room. A good idea would be to position your loveseat with it's back to the dining room table, unless it'll be too wide for the room. How about adding a sofa table behind that loveseat. Now you've got a great divider.
As for a loveseat color, your peanut butter walls and the brown / burnt orange art print are definitely steering you down an earth-toned path. We like our peanut butter w/ strawberry jam so a warm shade of red is our suggestion for your loveseat. If your particular peanut butter is the Benjamin Moore version, their Raspberry Truffle might be a good bet.
Next question...will a loveseat and 2 chairs be too crowded in your narrow living room? Have you considered the loveseat with 1 chair? Think about that and if you don't want to go with a loveseat and chair(s) in the same red, bringing in another accent color is a good idea. We're thinking a warmer, softer red with a slate blue or other type of lighter blue. Come to think of it, a dash of yellow in there would work too.
Throw pillows are great to tie the loveseat and chair together, so make sure to work those blues and yellows, if not browns and oranges into them.
