The softening of your leather sofa
by: Todd and Jen

Hi Anya,

Wow! That's a great question. You've got a nice combination of sofa, flooring, and wall color going. Softening the appearance of the couch can be done very well with a few different things.

1-throw pillows and blankets
2-flowers and greenery
3-area rugs

To the side of the sofa, a large urn with tall greenery. If it looks like foliage its masculine, however the more flowery - the more feminine it will be. How about a flower-filled vase on the coffee table.

Area rugs should avoid contemporary patterns in stripes or geometric shapes. Go for persian or flowered patterns.

Throws and blankets should be frilly and very soft to the touch. A chenille blanket would be awesome. We have one downstairs on the sectional and we always fight over it.

Your color choices can vary. If you go with the earth tones, go heavy with softer reds and oranges. Here's something to think about...light blue. Check out this page Espresso Leather.

Yes, the rug will work with gold walls. This room is going for neutral, but go with a more Robin's Egg blue over the slate you see here and go girly with the accents.

Hope that helps!
