In our living room we have one of our favorite candle holders on our hearth. This piece rarely gets lighted, it's really just a decorative accent, but its wood composition, clean shape, and metal stand complement the stone fireplace very well.

Another place we use one is on our coffee table. We have a copper colored tray with a sleek artificial flower arrangement on one side and our candle holder on the other side. The contrast works well. However, you shouldn't light a candle that sits next to any kind of flammable material.
