A plasma tv armoire is a great idea for living rooms that need something more than a plasma tv stand, but something less than a full-blown plasma entertainment center. A plasma tv armoire makes a style statement, yet has plenty of room for all your enterainment equipment.

We have an armoire in our living room. Jen started talking about buying one as soon as we got engaged. We bought one and haven't regretted it since. Our beautiful holds our TV, Direct TV box, home theater, and all our DVD's. On top, we've decorated it with vases, greenery, plates on stands - you name it.

Our armoire has a very classic style that really pulls our room together. It's really our most elegant piece of furniture. To think I once put a moratorium on Jen even saying the word 'armoire'. What was I thinking!!!!

Things You Need to Know About a Plasma TV Armoire

First thing is first...know where you are going put it before you buy it. This is mainly because armoire doors can work in a variety of ways. Some open 180 degrees, some 270, while some open 90 degress and slide on tracks into the back of the unit. This is how ours works and we probably wouldn't buy one that didn't open that way, but that's just us.

Also remember, there are corner armoires out there, but they can pigeon-hole you when you're arranging your furniture. We have our armoire in a corner, but it's not a corner armoire. It doesn't look out of place at all and when it's time to rearrange, we have the whole room to work with.

Second, make sure your shelves are versatile. Being able to accommodate different sizes and different pieces of equipment is essential. You'll probably have your armoire alot longer than your home theater system so making sure your armoire can handle just about any component is essential.

Last, do you need drawers or do you want swing out doors on the top and bottom? We have doors on the top and bottom and we think it works well for storing our DVD's. If you like having drawers to use as catch-alls for remotes, gaming system components, and whatever else you find laying around, then definitely look for an armoire with drawers on the bottom.

This is the Kathy Ireland NY Skyline Armoire from RacksandStands.com. This is great traditional styling with a rich brown color. This armoire has storage drawers and adjustable shelves along with 270 degree doors.

Be careful where you put this one so you can open the doors completely when you need to. There's a small TV inside, in the picture, but the top shelf is adjustable to accomodate much larger units.

Mmmmm....that's all we can say.

We're suckers for two-tone browns. Call it a character flaw. What you can't see is a pull-out TV shelf, the 270 degree doors in action, and storage shelves underneath, with an adjustable shelf above the TV.

What you can see is color...rich, wonderful color. This one is truly unique.

We're Back in Black with the Martin Black TV Armoire from RacksandStands.com!

Check out the detailing on the inside and on the doors. This one has top doors that open 90 degrees then slide in. No need to worry about what's on either side of this armoire.

You may find yourself a bit limited by the tan strip across the top. This is probably not a contemporary piece, but it does work quite well in traditional rooms.

No we're not talking about cars. This Lifestyle California armoire from RacksandStands.com is a bit deceiving at first look. No, it's not a combination of armoire and side shelves. Those are actually separate bookshelves on either side, but does it matter? What a fantastic look.

Well that's about it for the plasma tv armoire. It's a great alternative when a stand is too small and an entertainment center is too big. You can accent it on top and store all your media and components inside. The doors come in many styles and you can choose drawers or shelves on the bottom. We own one and we love it.
