Louis Comfort Tiffany (1848-1933) was indeed the son of Charles Lewis Tiffany...yep, that Tiffany.

Rather than follow in his father's footsteps, Louis started out as an artist, working mostly with oil and watercolors. He transitioned into a career in interior design because he wanted to bring the same stature to decorative arts that was associated with the fine arts.

When he started taking bits and pieces of his own stained glass windows and forming them into decorative lamps, he was on to something. Basically, Louis Comfort Tiffany created lamps as small versions of his stained glass masterpieces.
